HOW TO SELL AT YOUNG ART AUCTIONS

Are you an artist? Would you like to make a debut on the auction market? We invite you to put up your work for sale at the Young Art Auction with DESA Unicum auction house!

What Do you Have to Do?

Submit a request:

  • via e-mail directly to the sale coordinator, Paulina Brol (p.brol@desa.pl)
  • using the application form:
Request Valuation

Attach photos of your work (along with information about the technique and dimensions) and a few words about yourself, your career and artistic activity so far.

We encourage you to submit more than one work, as we can put them up for future auctions.

After reviewing the application by the evaluation committee, you will receive information on whether the painting was qualified for sale at the auction. If so, bring the painting to our Admission Office (Monday-Friday from 11 to 19 and Saturday 11 to 16). In the meantime, we will draw up the commission agreement for you, which shall be signed upon the delivery of the item.

What is the Young Art Auction?

Young Art Auction is a project aimed at promoting and supporting artists making their debut on the art market. DESA Unicum is the first Polish auction house to organize an auction of works by young artists, helping them to make contacts with collectors and art lovers. The project has become an important event on the Polish art market.

Due to the interest in the project, auctions are held at least once a month. We plan to increase the number of auctions to 2 per month in 2022. Additionally, DESA Unicum organizes thematic auctions of Young Art Online and off-site auctions. Last time, we met the collectors in Sopot, where they had the opportunity to bid on works by young artists at the Grand Hotel. At each of the auction, we present selected works by young artists.

FAQs:

Who Can Put up a work for the Young Art Auction?

When selecting works for auctions, we rely on both long-term contacts and new offers from debutants. We invite primarily creators with higher artistic education to take part in our auctions.

That Should Be the Topic of my Work?

Young Art Auctions usually do not have specific topics - their form depends on the works sent by the artists and the selection of the commission.

What Determines the Admission of a Work for the Auction?

When our commission selects works for auction, the key factors include: the artist's craftsmanship, how appealing the work is, and its consistency with the current offer.

Insurance Scheme

When your work is in our hands - from the moment it is accepted for the auction until it is picked up by the buyer - it remains securely stored and insured for the amount specified in the agreement. Thanks to this, we guarantee full protection of your item during the process of sale and preparing it for the auction.

What Will be the Starting Price?

Works at the Young Art Auction are always auctioned at the starting price of PLN 1,000. The auction is preceded by a pre-auction on the bid.desa.pl platform. We start the live auction with the bid reached on bid.desa.pl.

Where Can Customers See the Works Put up for Auction?

The accepted works are available for viewing on the DESA Unicum website and in the DESA mobile application, where we publish the auction offer about 5 weeks before the auction. Additional information and the catalog in electronic form are also available on the website. The auction offer can be seen in person at the pre-auction exhibition at DESA Unicum headquarters, Piękna 1A.

What Happens to my Work after the Auction is over?

After the auction, the objects are moved to the storage at our headquarters. If your artwork is sold, the buyer has 28 days to settle the payment and then pick up the artwork. If the object is not auctioned, it is available for purchase in the post-auction offer for 28 days after the auction. If after this time it does not find a buyer, the creator is asked to collect it.

When I Receive the Payment for the Sold Work?

Payment for the sold item is made by bank transfer within 28 days from the auction date, provided that the buyer has fully paid for the item. Payment is made in PLN to the given account unless another payment method was agreed. We will inform you by e-mail when the payment is sent.

The dates of upcoming Young Art auctions and the dates of admissions are available in the auction calendar:
