The Old Masters Department coordinates some of the most important auctions at DESA Unicum. They are popular among many art connoisseurs looking for distinguished works for their collections. During auctions, the department promotes works of prominent Polish master painters of the 19th century as well as covers the Young Poland and Interwar period.

Our sales regularly feature paintings of the highest quality. These include works by: Jacek Malczewski, Józef Chełmoński, Stanisław Wyspiański, Olga Boznańska, Józef Brandt, Eugeniusz Zak, Mela Muter, Jan Stanisławski, Józef Mehoffer, Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski, Wojciech Kossak or Henryk Hayden.

In order to offer a more diverse range, we try to include pieces by leading artists, now permanently embedded in the Polish history of art scene, along side other, lesser-known creatives that worked from the 19th century to the mid 20th century.

On December 14th 2017, the department has sold the most expensive painting of the period - Motherhood by Stanisław Wyspiański - for a record price of 4 360 000 PLN.
