PHOTOGRAPHY FROM THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL SESSION WITH ANGELINA JOLIE
The author of the Angelina Jolie portrait is Harry Langdon. The history of this photography is associated with a certain mystery. The photographer did not know that he was photographing a girl who is only 15 years old. The photos taken during the session were the first professional photos in the career of the actress.
American photographer Harry Langdon specialized in photo shoots for acting stars, famous singers and politicians. In the 1980s and 1990s, almost all famous Hollywood celebrities photographed themselves in Langdon's studio. Amongst the more memorable names were Jane Fonda, Linda Evans, Nancy Regan, George Clooney, George Hamilton, Diana Ross, Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie. There is a spicy story to Jolie's photoshoot. Langdon, who was always well prepared to meet the next subject of his photographs, knew very little about his next model, Angelina Jolie. Years later, he recalled the session:
"Usually, before I start a session, I try to find out more about my new client. The person who represented me at the time didn't tell me about her [Angelina's] real age, so it wouldn't affect the way I worked with her. I was told, and I thought she was 18, and given her sensuality, I knew that the most important thing was to gain her trust. I never forced myself on anyone because once the photographer crosses that border, the subject would start keeping their distance. Angelina just 'stood in front of the camera'. I stayed calm and allowed her to express herself saying little more than 'turn left, turn right'. Conversation was unnecessary. "
