The October Old Art Auction focuses on traditional Polish painting from the second half of the 19th century, where horse-drawn carriages, hunting scenes and episodes from the life of the noble court play a major role. A work worthy of special mention is the monumental ‘Carnival in Poland’ (‘Kulig’) by Józef Chełmoński from the former Raczyński collection, shown, among others, at the Paris Salon in 1884 and at the last monographic exhibition of Józef Chełmoński at the National Museum in Poznań. Next to it, we present paintings from the Munich school: ‘Three Chased by Wolves’ by Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski, ‘Convoy of Steppe Horses’ by Antoni Piotrowski, ‘Sharpening Sabres Before the Battle’ by Antoni Kozakiewicz and ‘Wolf Hunt’ by Ludwik Gędłka.

In the offer we present objects which traces the history of Polish landscape painting, starting with Józef Szermentowski's ‘Forest Edge’, the first artist to make landscape a fully-fledged subject of painting, through Jan Stanisławski's ‘Evening’, the father of the Polish landscape school, Leon Wyczółkowski's ‘Floodplain’, Wojciech Weiss's ‘Landscape with Trees from Kalwaria Zebrzydowska’, ending with the works of Stanisław Kamocki and representatives of the Paris School.
