The 'Wildness and expression' sale is another project of the series of auctions organized by Desa Unicum that focuses on the riveting period of the Polish Art history – the decade of 1980s. After some sales devoted to displaying of the notions such as the activity of the ‘Gruppa’ art group, the ‘New Figuration’ or the ‘Decade of rebellion’, this time we are offering a collection of works that show the significance and the variety of expression as the leitmotif of the 1980s. The project highlights the artistic understanding and definitions of expression, together with the evolution of the artistic styles of the creators in the later years. The starting point are the iconic works of artists such as Edward Dwurnik, whose works represent three various, flagship series; Tomasz Tatarczyk; Eugeniusz Markowski; Sławomir Ratajski; Paweł Kowalewski; Jarosław Modzelewski and Ryszard Grzyb. The auction is a good opportunity to learn about the works of artists who are being lately rediscovered on the art market, such as Jan Tyniec, Małgorzata Turewicz-Lafranchi and Marek Kamieński. There were also works by subversive artists associated, among others, with the Orange Alternative. A separate group consists of objects created under the clear influence of pop art: huge canvases by Andrzej Cisowski or Janusz Przybylski. The offer is utterly diverse and strong, it includes works full of colors, emotions and commitment. Thus, the selected objects illustrate the features of expression such as: particularly understood figuration, references to pop culture and anarchism reflected in the rejection of all academic principles of depiction. The formal layer of the works is characterized by wide impastos, high color contrasts, large formats and experiments with material, which illustrated the vibrating internal states reflecting the times in which they were created.
