Jan Stanislawski became one of the pillars of Julian Falat's reformed Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He took over the then reactivated chair of landscape painting and began his educational activities on a large scale, which not infrequently met with harsh criticism from other professors. Stanislawski won the favor of students thanks to his innovative pedagogical methods, which departed from the usual patterns. He attached great importance to observing nature in the open air. He encouraged students to express through landscape a subjective vision of reality, reflecting their inner emotions. For Jan Stanislawski, landscape was a reflection of the soul.
Thanks to the strength of his character and his pedagogical skills, Jan Stanislawski gathered around him a big circle of young artists fascinated by his methods and art, who in the following decades became continuators and worthy heirs to the master's artistic legacy. Among them were: Stanisław Kamocki, Henryk Szczygliński, Stanisław Czajkowski, Tadeusz Józef Makowski, Teodor Ziomek, Wlastimil Hofman, Stefan Filipkiewicz, Piotr Hipolit Krasnodębski, Marcin Samlicki or Stanisław Gałek. The phenomenon of Jan Stanislawski's school continues to this day, as evidenced by contemporary exhibitions and the unflagging interest of private collectors in the works of the master and his students.
