The 200th Young Polish Artists
The upcoming Young Polish Artists on September 10th will undoubtedly be a special event. Over the past 16 years, with your support, we have organized 200 auctions of young artists. This period has been filled with emotions, discoveries, and opportunities for talented creators starting their artistic journey.
Our joint efforts have resulted in remarkable collaborations, which have not only increased the recognition and popularity of contemporary art but also influenced the dynamics of the Polish art market as a whole. Over the years, the Young Young Polish Artists has been a catalyst for many people to start collecting art, and today, many of those collections have expanded to include key figures in the Polish art scene.
Thanks to the sustained interest in young art, we are more motivated than ever to continue sharing art with a broad audience. These auctions are proof that the art world is an ever-changing, dynamic space where dreams become reality. It is a place where you can create, exhibit your works, assemble your dream collection, and experience unforgettable emotions. We are proud that so many diverse creators have trusted us over the years, and that the DESA Unicum team has been able to actively participate in the development of numerous artists' careers. This motivates us to continually expand our horizons, both in terms of market opportunities and exploration of new themes and artistic forms.
For this anniversary, we have prepared a unique offer consisting of 100 paintings and sculptures. In this carefully selected collection, we present works by both emerging artists and those whose work has been featured in our early Young Polish Artists. The contemporary art market is currently considered one of the most dynamically developing sectors. A prime example of this significant potential is that years ago, artists like Sylwester Ambroziak, Zdzisław Nitka, Agnieszka Sandomierz, Marcin Maciejowski, Rafał Bujnowski, and Basia Bańda began their careers at Young Polish Artists. Over the years, with exhibition successes and increasing recognition, their works have been featured in increasingly prestigious auctions and have achieved higher financial results. Works by these artists, which could be bought for less than 2,000 PLN a few years ago, now achieve auction results dozens of times higher. Notably, works by Bujnowski and Maciejowski command record-breaking sums exceeding 100,000 PLN.
Great interest and staggering amounts are not only the domain of the artists already established in Polish art history. Prominent figures on the current art scene include Anna Zalewska, Adam Bakalarz, Bartłomiej Koter, and Dariusz Grabuś, who also experienced their first market successes at these auctions. Today, their works are fiercely contested, with prices exceeding 50,000 PLN. Considering all these surges, Young Art is undoubtedly an auction that can surprise. From a historical perspective, these auctions also suggest the directions of the art world and collecting trends. The anniversary auction is a good moment to summarize the previous auctions organized by DESA Unicum:
41,800,000 PLN - the total turnover of all Young Art Auctions
16 185 - the number of objects featured in the auctions
December 18, 2008 - the date of the first Young Polish Artists
55 000 PLN - the highest amount achieved at the auction, even twice! (in 2023 for Dariusz Grabuś's painting "The Beach is Right Here" and in 2022 for Bożena Sieczyńska's painting "Happiness")
Young Polish Artists are a great opportunity to awaken your collector's instinct and purchase your first painting. With a rich offer, you're sure to find a work that meets your personal expectations and tastes. The auctions are held regularly, twice a month. All selected works can be bid on starting from 1,000 PLN, initially through pre-auction bidding on the mobile app, and then during the live traditional auction. We invite you to explore the offer of our 200th anniversary Young Polish Artists and to continue actively participating in creating such a significant and valuable segment of the art market with us.
