Tanzanite - Exceptional Gemstone

Although tanzanites do not have as long of a history as stones such as emeralds, known since ancient times, they have undoubtedly been making a dizzying career as one of the most valued and desired gems since their discovery in the 1960s.

Tanzanites are exceptionally rare gemstones with a beautiful blue-violet color. They are only found in one place in the world-the Merelani Hills, located in Tanzania at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. After their discovery in 1967, the New York jewelry company Tiffany & Co. became interested in this exceptional gemstone, and thanks to them, it became popular on a large scale. The executive officers of Tiffany & Co. quickly fell in love with the new stone and saw its immense potential. A year after its discovery, the brand launched a massive marketing campaign, creating a catchy name for the new mineral: Tanzanite.

Tanzanite undoubtedly hypnotizes us with its unique color. When we look at the stone from different angles, we can see up to three colors: blue, indigo, violet, and sometimes even green or orange. It is worth mentioning that the occurrence of tanzanite is 1000 times rarer than diamonds, which is why many collectors often choose these exceptional minerals.

Tanzanite has become celebrities' favorite for a reason. One of the famous personalities who wore jewelry with the newly discovered gemstone was Elizabeth Taylor, inspiring successive generations of jewelry lovers.

Tanzanite probably played one of the main roles in James Cameron's famous film "Titanic." The exceptional gemstone was used to create a pendant that the main character, Rose Dawson, played by actress Kate Winslet, wore. It was the famous "Heart of the Ocean"-a blue diamond, the extraordinary history which (although not authentic, as its story was based on the story of the real "Hope" diamond, which still evokes many emotions today) was the main theme for the director.

Tanzanites are also ideal stones for Sagittariuses, as they strengthen the inner life and help maintain a balance between personal and professional lives. They are commonly referred to as "busy bees' stones."
