SUMMER YOUNG ART AUCTION

SUMMER YOUNG ART AUCTION

Paulina Brol

The upcoming Young Art Auction promises to be very interesting. Next Tuesday, you will be able to bid on various items, both at the headquarters of Desa Unicum at Piękna in Warsaw, as well as via the Internet and our mobile application. The offer includes mainly paintings, as well as sculptures and works on paper.

The tondo by Stanisław Tomalak undoubtedly stands out from other works. It was made with oil paint on canvas, but its rich texture brings this item closer to a spatial object. Following this line of associations, the painting "Fragment 626" from the series "Heaven and Earth" can be somewhat compared to the avant-garde forms of Włodzimierz Borowski. Tomalak's work calls to mind a series of round, interactive, and almost organic "Artons" from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Another exceptional work is Magdalena Szilke's "The Moon and the Field". The watercolor seduces with its delicacy and subtle charm of the depicted scene. The saturated blue morning sky contrasts with the field full of flowers immersed in the mist. While looking at Szilke's watercolor, it is worth noting the stylistic diversity and painting skills of the artist. The upper part of the painting, representing the sky, is rendered through simple, decisive brushstrokes that smoothly transition into the hazy white of the horizon. The trees visible in the background separate the minimalist sky surface from the meadow dominated by colorful spots. Clumps of flowers in the shadows of pink, placed at the bottom of the watercolor, bring the mood of spring.

Young Art, however, is not only about paintings. Sculpture enthusiasts may be interested in the work by Jakub Górski, "Narcissus". The sculpture takes the form of a head with delicate features. The smooth surface of the face, subtly marked eyes, nose, and mouth get the most out of the material's character. The artist used a subdued, light part of the stone to create the face. Its polished side contrasts with the raw, rough-hewn back of the sculpture, exposing the brown, contrasting veins of the stone.

The works by Adelajda Kot are also worth the attention. Her latest painting "Waxwing - Girl with a Monkey" will be available at the auction. This painting enjoys a great deal of interest, as a few days before the auction it reached the price of over PLN 6,000 in the pre-bidding! Kot's canvases, saturated with a dreamlike, fairy-tale atmosphere and symbolic meanings, charm with the artist's craftsmanship. The author reflects the texture of the presented objects in a very accurate way. She often places animals in her paintings, especially monkeys, birds, and horses. They also occur in the presented painting - the eponymous monkey catches the eye with its well-rendered, soft, and shiny fur. In addition, the painting is rich in symbols such as a clock or mistletoe. According to the artist's words, in her works, she tries to reflect the mystical essence of nature and emphasize its strong connection with human life.

The unique pre-auction exhibition is available at the headquarters of DESA Unicum until July 6, 2021. We also invite you to familiarize yourself with the offer on our website and in the mobile application.
