The DESA Unicum headquarters is the first of its kind not only in Warsaw but also in Europe.
The building's design was carefully thought out to blend in with its surroundings on one side and, on the other, to draw attention and provide the necessary space for art exhibitions. The building appears relatively modest from the perspective of the nearby park. Only from the entrance side can one see that a significant portion of its functions is hidden on the -1 level. The facility enlivens the area dominated by diplomatic and governmental institutions, enriching the cultural offerings in this part of the city through the exhibitions it hosts. We welcome all art enthusiasts, and the accessible and inviting architecture of our new headquarters is proof of that," says Juliusz Windorbski, President of DESA Unicum.
The building, covering 3500 square meters, houses a gallery and an auction house. Its glass façades provide optimal conditions for guests visiting exhibitions to admire works of art, and the grass-covered roof harmoniously complements the nearby park. For DESA Unicum, the new headquarters opens up further possibilities for the company's development, better exhibition of collections, and enhanced customer service in even more comfortable surroundings.
The building is an example of architecture designed on a human scale, with respect for the historic surroundings, history, and nature. The project was designed by architect Paweł W. Graliński. "Today, perhaps in reaction to the flood of stimuli, architecture turns to laconic sterility, clinical whites and blacks, sharply cut forms, and chaotic lines are subsumed under its concept. I oppose this," says Graliński. The DESA Unicum headquarters is the first building in Europe created for the specific needs of an auction house. The interior design of the DESA Unicum auction house was created by the architectural company Trzop Architekci.
