About department

The poster, understood as a means of communication and an advertising medium, has accompanied film since the very beginning. The two forms of art are closely linked and complement each other. The significance of film posters, however, goes far beyond the strictly informative and advertising function, an ideal example of which are the projects of Polish artists. The Polish graphic movement, which was born in post-war Poland, has been permanently associated with the most beautiful films in the world, which resulted in the artistic posters presented at our auctions. It is thanks to the imaginative, far-reaching metaphors and concise synthesis that the posters have attracted the viewers and, despite the passage of time, they continue to seduce the viewers, forcing them to reflect on the content of the film in greater depth.

Our offer will include numerous posters designed by the best graphic designers of the second half of the 20th century. Roman Cieślewicz, Jan Lenica, Eryk Lipiński, Jan Młodożeniec, Roman Opałka, Andrzej Pągowski, Waldemar Świerzy, Henryk Tomaszewski and Wojciech Zamecznik.

We present sports, tourist, music, circus, theatre and film posters. The exhibition is also full of items advertising world-famous film super productions such as King Kong, E.T. or Raiders of the Lost Ark.
