More information
‘The series “Dreaming” which I started in 1978 is a continuation of my interest in everyday life and triviality as an area for artistic insight. The previously proposed programmed artificiality of art is manifested through trivial daily activities, such as eating, sitting and breathing. Dreaming is also an attempt at artistic formalisation for which everyday life and commonness provide material. It becomes extraordinary and ambiguous when we see it in three aspects, logically derived from such “screening”.’ First of all, it is a simple activity of falling asleep and dreaming, in this case accelerated and induced by a pharmacological substance. Therefore, dreams are the essence of “internality” of this stage of screening, available only to the sleeping party. The second aspect is the visual status, the “external” layer of “dreaming” available to the recipient; the participants are witnesses and screening objects in the gallery. The third aspect is the attempt to materialise, establish the equivalent of an unreal dream, create a fictional documentary.’ NATALIA LL, 1979
